How to Fix Space Marine 2 Crashing

Playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?

Playing on Steam, Epic Games Store, or Microsoft Store?

  1. Verify your game files
    A failed or interrupted update leaves broken files behind, and the game crashes on the file it cannot read.
    Steam: right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files;
    Epic Games Store: three dots → Manage → Verify;
    Xbox app: Manage → Files → Verify and repair.

  2. Close all other applications
    Overlays, RGB software, and antivirus tools hook into the game and are one of the most common causes of crashes and freezes. Turn off overlays in Discord, Steam, NVIDIA App, and AMD Adrenalin, close Corsair iCUE, Razer Synapse, and Logitech G HUB from the system tray, and pause third-party antivirus software.

  3. Clear the shader cache
    Compiled shaders can become corrupted after a game or driver update, which causes stutter and crashes.
    NVIDIA: press Win + R, open %localappdata%\NVIDIA\DXCache and delete the contents, then repeat for GLCache;
    AMD: open Adrenalin → Settings → Graphics → Advanced → Reset Shader Cache. The first launch afterward takes longer while shaders rebuild, and some stutter in the first few minutes is expected.

  4. Disconnect extra USB devices and controllers
    Conflicting USB drivers can block startup or cause input stutter. Unplug VR headsets, steering wheels, flight sticks, secondary controllers, and external drives. If the game crashes immediately on launch, disconnect your gamepad, start with the mouse and keyboard, then reconnect it at the main menu.
