How to Fix Space Marine 2 Freezing After Alt-Tab (PC)

If Space Marine 2 hangs for 20–30 seconds when you switch windows, or stops responding entirely after you Alt-Tab out and back, work through the steps below in order. 1. Clean-install your graphics drivers
Installing a new driver over an old one often leaves the problem in place. NVIDIA: download the latest driver from nvidia.com and choose Custom (Advanced) → Perform a clean installation. AMD: run the AMD Cleanup Utility first, restart, then install the latest Adrenalin driver. Restart your PC after the install.

2. Perform a clean boot
A clean boot starts Windows with only Microsoft services, so you can tell whether background software is holding the game when it loses focus. Press Win + R, type msconfig → Services tab → check Hide all Microsoft services → Disable all → Startup tab → Open Task Manager → disable every entry → restart your PC and test switching windows again. If the freeze is gone, re-enable your startup programs a few at a time to find the one responsible.

3. Reinstall the game
A reinstall replaces every game file, including ones a verification pass cannot repair. Your progress is stored on your account and in cloud saves, not in the game files. Uninstall through your storefront, delete any leftover files in the installation folder, then reinstall.
