How to Fix Space Marine 2 Not Launching (PC)

If Space Marine 2 closes before the main menu, shows a black screen and nothing else, or never appears after you press Play, work through the steps below in order. They start with the fastest fix and end with the one that takes the longest.

1. Add the game to your antivirus exceptions
Windows Defender and third-party antivirus software can block Easy Anti-Cheat before the game reaches the main menu. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings → Exclusions → Add or remove exclusions → Add an exclusion → Folder, and select the Space Marine 2 install folder (for Steam, usually ...\steamapps\common\Space Marine 2). If you use third-party antivirus software, follow your vendor's instructions for adding a folder exclusion.

2. Clean-install your graphics drivers
Installing a new driver over an old one often leaves the problem in place. NVIDIA: download the latest driver from nvidia.com and choose Custom (Advanced) → Perform a clean installation. AMD: run the AMD Cleanup Utility first, restart, then install the latest Adrenalin driver. Restart your PC after the install.

3. Perform a clean boot
A clean boot starts Windows with only Microsoft services, so you can tell whether background software is blocking the launch. Press Win + R, type msconfig → Services tab → check Hide all Microsoft services → Disable all → Startup tab → Open Task Manager → disable every entry → restart your PC and launch the game. If it starts, re-enable your startup programs a few at a time to find the one responsible.

4. Reinstall the game
A reinstall replaces every game file, including ones a verification pass cannot repair. Your progress is stored on your account and in cloud saves, not in the game files. Uninstall through your storefront, delete any leftover files in the installation folder, then reinstall.
