Dakar Desert Rally Force Feedback

Force Feedback is a feature within certain steering wheels that simulates the feel of the real car by making the wheel react with force and resistance.

You can find all the supported and planned to-be-supported wheels for Dakar Desert Rally here. If you are experiencing any issues with the Force Feedback, check the manual for your model and then follow the steps below.

If you are playing with the Logitech Steering Wheel, installing the older Logitech G HUB version will fix the Force Feedback not working.

Xbox

  • Be sure to first check your Xbox software version (Home > Settings > System > Console Information > OS version).
  • According to the Xbox Insider Release Notes, “some users have reported issues when their steering wheel is connected to the console, such as games failing to launch, or performance being impacted”.
  • Check if the correct Steering Wheel mode is activated to match your platform (some models need to have the compatibility modes switched to suit the right platform by pressing the MODE button, check your wheel’s manual guide for details).
  • Check if you have the correct Xbox firmware version, then open Dakar Desert Rally, check the OPTIONS / CONTROLS / STEERING WHEEL CALIBRATION, and test your equipment before adjusting the Force Feedback slides to your preference (see the attachment).

PlayStation

  • Check if the correct Steering Wheel mode is activated to match your platform (some models need to have the compatibility modes switched to suit the right platform by pressing the MODE button, check your wheel’s manual guide for details).
  • Check if your PlayStation system version is up-to-date (Home > Settings > System > System Information > System Software).
  • Now open Dakar Desert Rally and head over to OPTIONS / CONTROLS / STEERING WHEEL CALIBRATION, and test your equipment before adjusting the Force Feedback slides to your preference (see the attachment).

PC

  • We recommend downloading your Steering Wheel brand software/driver and restarting your computer.
  • Make sure that your steering wheel is selected in the correct mode (usually, there is a button/switch).
  • Verify all the connections between the steering wheel and the PC.
  • Inside the software, the Steering Wheel features can be customized. Check if your Steering Wheel brand software/drivers have a dedicated Force Feedback test.
  • In the Control Panel, verify if the computer reads the steering wheel input:

  • Now open Dakar Desert Rally and head over to OPTIONS / CONTROLS / STEERING WHEEL CALIBRATION, and test your equipment before adjusting the Force Feedback slides to your preference (see the attachment).
