How to Fix Space Marine 2 Connection Issues on Xbox

If Space Marine 2 will not connect on Xbox Series X or Series S, drops you mid-match, or shows an error code, the console is usually holding on to a stale network configuration. The three steps below clear it, in order of how long they take.

Symptoms

  • An error code appears when you launch or enter multiplayer

  • You are dropped part-way through Operations or Siege

  • Matchmaking searches and never finds a session

  • The problem started after a system update or a console crash

  1. Clear the alternate MAC address. The console stores a network identity that can stay broken after the original problem is gone. Clearing it forces the console to negotiate a fresh connection with your router. Open SettingsGeneralNetwork settingsAdvanced settingsAlternate MAC addressClear. The console restarts by itself. Let it come back up fully before launching the game.

  2. Change your DNS. Your provider's DNS resolves our servers slowly or incorrectly for a large share of players. Use Cloudflare or Google instead. Open SettingsGeneralNetwork settingsAdvanced settingsDNS settingsManual. Set the primary DNS to 1.1.1.1 and the secondary to 1.0.0.1 for Cloudflare, or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for Google. Confirm each entry, then launch the game.

  3. Perform a full power cycle. This clears the console's temporary storage, which a normal restart leaves in place. Hold the power button on the front of the console for ten seconds until it shuts down completely. Unplug the power cable from the back, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and press the power button to start the console. The startup animation confirms the power cycle worked — if the console boots straight to the dashboard without it, the cycle did not take, and you should try again.
