How to Fix Space Marine 2 Connection Issues on PS5

If Space Marine 2 will not connect on PS5, drops you mid-match, or shows an error code, the console is usually holding on to network data or a damaged local database from an earlier session. The three steps below clear both, in order of how long they take.

Symptoms

  • An error code appears when you launch or enter multiplayer

  • You are dropped part-way through Operations or Siege

  • Matchmaking searches and never finds a session

  • The problem started after a system update or a console crash

  1. Clear the system cache. Hold the power button on the front of the console until it beeps a second time, then let go. Wait for the console to shut down completely — the light stops pulsing. Unplug the power cable from the back, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in and start the console normally. The system cache clears on startup. This is not the same as putting the console into rest mode, and rest mode will not do it.

  2. Change your DNS. Your provider's DNS resolves our servers slowly or incorrectly for a large share of players. Use Cloudflare or Google instead. Open Settings → Network → Settings → Set Up Internet Connection. Select your network → Advanced Settings → DNS Settings → Manual. Set the primary DNS to 1.1.1.1 and the secondary to 1.0.0.1 for Cloudflare, or 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for Google. Save and test the connection, then launch the game.

  3. Rebuild the database. This rebuilds the console's index of installed content. It takes longer than clearing the cache and it does not delete your games or saves. Shut down the console completely, as in step 1. Hold the power button until you hear a second beep — about seven seconds — to start in Safe Mode. Connect your controller with a USB cable and press the PS button. Choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database → Rebuild Database. Leave it to finish, which can take a while on a full drive.
