Port-Forwarding (PC, Xbox, PlayStation)

Port forwarding is a process that allows external devices or networks to connect to specific services or applications running on your computer or local network. In the context of gaming, port forwarding is required to establish a direct connection between your computer and the game server. This can help improve network performance by reducing latency and ensuring a more stable connection.

How to Port-Forward in Firewall (PC only)

  1. Search for Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security
  2. Open Inbound Rules and click on "New Rule..." on the right side of the window
  3. Make rule WWZ1: Port > TCP > Specific local ports 11700-11710 > Allow the connection
  4. Make rule WWZ2: Port > UDP > Specific local ports 48800-49000 > Allow the connection
  5. Open Outbound Rules and do the previous two steps with opening ports

Note that while those ports may be open on your Firewall, they might be blocked by the router itself.

How to Port-Forward on the Router (PC, Xbox, PlayStation)

Router port forwarding is different for every router manufacturer. Below is a common guide that should give you an idea of how to do it:

  1. Login to your router via the default gateway address. Here is how you can find it:
    • Press Win+R, type cmd, and press Enter
    • Type ipconfig and press Enter
    • Find Default Gateway. Put the number associated with it (e.g. 192.168.1.1) in your browser's address bar.
  2. Enter your router's login credentials on its login page. (The credentials should be on a sticker underneath your router. If they are not, try to find the most common credentials on your router's provider website.)
  3. Next, locate the port forwarding settings. Typically this will be under Advanced and then Port Forwarding or Virtual Server.
  4. On the Port Forwarding page, you will be prompted to enter a custom name for your device, usually the device you’re trying to reach. Then you’ll enter the port range 11700-11710 for TCP and 48800-49000 for UDP in the port range field. Select “TCP/UDP” under Protocol or “Both” if you are unsure of which protocol you are using. Next, enter the internal IP address of the device you are port forwarding to and click “Apply” or “Save” to store the changes.
