Troubleshooting Common Technical Issues (Steam)

General Tips

Please try these steps if your game crashes:

1. Verify game files.
2. Disable built-in\integrated GPU.
3. Update your drivers to the latest version.
4. Try running the game as an Administrator.
5. Apply the latest Windows updates.
6. Try using AMD Clean Up Utility.
7. Try setting a higher priority for The Knightling in Windows Task Manager.
8. Try disabling all controllers (steering wheels, gamepads, headphones, and even a keyboard) before starting the game. In some cases, they can cause unexpected issues.
9. Close all applications that may use the microphone and audio or boost performance (Discord, Skype, MSI Afterburner, and others) in the Task Manager before starting the game.
10. If you have multiple monitors connected, try leaving only one primary.

Anti-Virus Settings

Add the whole game's folder to the exclusions of Windows Defender.

If you have another antivirus, add the folder to the exceptions as well.

Update the Audio Driver

1. Right-click on the Windows Start button > Device Manager.
2. Open Sound -> Video -> Game controllers.
3. Right-click on the default audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) > Update driver.

Additional Tips

Controller is not detected:

1. Right-click on The Knightling under LIBRARY > Properties.
2. Click on Controller.
3. Select Disable Steam Input from Override for The Knightling.
4. Close CONTROLLER window.

Disable Steam overlay:

1. Go to Steam > View > Settings > In-Game > uncheck "Enable the Steam overlay while in-game"
2. Press OK
