Q: I am getting Error 10001 or Error 10005, and mods will not download.
A: If you see these errors, please try to disable VPN, proxy server, firewall rules, anti-virus software, or custom DNS services. If you still have the issue, please, try the following:
- Close SnowRunner.
- Browse to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\Mods\.modio\.
- Delete the authentication.json file.
- Restart SnowRunner.
- Log back into the mod menu.
If you can't locate the abovementioned folder/file or you are playing on the console, check if the following ports are opened:
- TCP: 11700-11710
- UDP: 48800-48810
If you would like to get more information about troubleshooting connection-related problems, please check our dedicated article on this topic.
If none of the above works, please create a new mod.io account with another e-mail. You also may try to log out from your mod.io account using the Internet browser directly via mod.io and then try to open the game and log into mod.io again in the game.
Q: Modded cars and items have disappeared / Mods are breaking the gameplay.
A: There is a high chance that this issue is caused by the mod. To resolve the abovementioned problem, do the following:
- Open your mod browser and check both your active and inactive mods. Ensure that all of the mods are up-to-date.
- Double-check the mod compatibility and synchronization by visiting mod.io and verifying that the mod count on your platform is similar to the one on the mod.io website, uninstall all mods that are no longer supported.
Q: I get a 401 error / the mod menu is empty / I can't subscribe or unsubscribe to mods.
A: You can usually resolve this issue by reauthenticating to the mod menus:
- Go to the mod browser page;
- Press the Triangle button (PlayStation) or Y button (Xbox);
- Scroll down to the "Log Out" option at the bottom of the list;
- Confirm you wish to log out of mod.io;
- Go back to the mod browser, and follow the instructions to authenticate.
Q: I get an error stating mod failed to install with error codes -1, -2, -5, -7, or similar.
A: Error Codes -5 and -7 are internal error codes for SnowRunner, not mod.io. These usually appear when a mod or several mods have been installed that are incompatible with the game or have some issue or error. Subscribing to mods that require manual installation, are not valid or broken mods, or mods for an older version of the game may cause this issue, and you should unsubscribe from these mods. If you're unsure which mod may cause the error, you should unsubscribe from all mods, then resubscribe one by one.
Q: I am subscribing to mods on the mod.io website, but they do not appear in-game.
A: Only the mods available from the mod browser are available for consoles. Most of the mods on the website are currently PC only (see the following Q&A). Subscribing to mods not available on the console mod menu will not be available on these platforms.
Please use the mod browser to discover and install mods on consoles, or click here to browse console-approved mods.
Q: I can only see a limited number of mods on XBOX / PS4, why?
A: Mods on consoles must be pre-approved before appearing in the game - and as such, there is a limited subset of mods on consoles. Due to the rules imposed by console platforms, some mods are not suitable for consoles and are not available. More mods are slowly being added to consoles, as they must be manually pre-approved by the developer/console platforms. More will gradually appear over the days and weeks.
You can now read a blog post from Focus Home Interactive about the selection process and requirements for mods on Consoles by clicking here. Please use the mod browser to discover and install mods on consoles, or click here to browse console-approved mods.
Q: Certain mods were available before but have now gone, why?
A: When updated, all mods require re-approval and will be unavailable during this process. Also, some mods have been found to have issues and may be removed temporarily as the team reviews them.
Q: Why are the mods I have subscribed to not available or downloading slowly?
A: If you are experiencing slow downloads or mods are not appearing as quickly as you expect, this is due to the large file sizes of some of the mods available. Mods will download in the background only while the game runs at a fixed transfer speed. Please be patient and allow plenty of time for these mods to appear while the game runs. If you don't want to wait, we would recommend that you choose some smaller mods available instead.
Q: I am getting an error message stating 'Not Enough Space' - but I have not subscribed to any mods yet.
A: Consoles only have limited space allocated for mods across all games - regardless of how much free storage you have. Please check which mods you have installed on your console and remove some of them to install a new one. Just so you know, some of the mods use a lot of memory, so you may only be able to have one mod installed at a time due to the limitations. You can see how much memory is used in Mod Browser under Mod Description.
Q: I keep getting a 401 error code in SnowRunner on XBOX / PS4.
A: This error usually appears when there is an issue contacting SnowRunner's servers. Please ensure you have an active internet connection and try again. If you still need help, please submit a request with our support.
Q: The mods option is grey, and I cannot select it.
A: This issue can be caused by the option 'Allow User-generated Content' being disabled in the console's settings or by using child accounts that fall into the age bracket of 15 years old or younger on Xbox or 13 or under on PlayStation. Microsoft does not provide us with exact dates of birth for privacy reasons - they only provide us with an age range (10-14) - as such, legally, we must reject the login request as we don't know if the child is above or below the age of 13 to comply with COPPA laws.
If an adult account is failing the check, they are signed into more than one Xbox Live account, which is why many games suggest logging out of all other accounts before starting a particular game to prevent issues like this. If two users are logged in, for example, and one is marked as a Child and one as an Adult, we should reject the login request as we need to know if it's the Child or the Adult playing.
Q: I get a 401 error code in SnowRunner on a PC.
A: Mods are currently unavailable on the Test / Preview server of SnowRunner. If you are using the mainstream version, the typical fix for this issue is to force Snowrunner to re-authenticate. You can do that by deleting the following file and restarting the game: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\Mods\.modio\au - you must have a legal copy of the game for mods to work.
Q: The authentication code is not working.
A: The security code is only valid for 15 minutes, and you can only request one code every 15 minutes. Please wait a while, restart the game and try again after 15 minutes. If you still have issues, please get in touch with the mod.io team by clicking here.
Q: I did not receive an authentication code.
A: Please check your spam/junk folder, and wait a few minutes for the code to arrive. If the code is not in your spam/junk folder, that likely means you misspelled your email. Please wait for 15 minutes, then try again, ensuring you are entering your e-mail address correctly - common mistakes we see in our logs are:
- Users putting spaces or other invalid characters in their e-mail address - e-mail addresses cannot have spaces.
- Users using commas instead of dots in their e-mail addresses.
- Users mis-spelling their e-mail address by mistake and not realizing.
- Users not putting the .com on the end of their address or using .com when the address has another extension.
Note the security code is only valid for 15 minutes, and you can only request one code every 15 minutes. Please wait a while, restart the game, and try again after 15 minutes. If you still have issues, you can contact the mod.io team by clicking here.
Q: I get a 422 error code when authenticating.
A: The error code 422 usually means something was malformed when entered into one of the boxes:
- Users putting spaces or other invalid characters in their e-mail address - e-mail addresses cannot have spaces.
- Users using commas instead of dots in their e-mail address
- Users mis-spelling their e-mail address by mistake and not realizing.
- Users not putting the .com on the end of their address or using .com when the address has another extension.
- This may mean you are entering your e-mail when you should be entering a five-digit authentication code, or the authentication code you are entering is invalid. Ensure the authentication code you enter is five digits long (ZAOYC). If that doesn't work, we recommend you exit the game and start again, entering your e-mail and the authentication code.
Q: I am seeing Error Code 0 when selecting the mod menu.
A: If you're seeing "Error Code 0: Connection Timed Out", your game cannot contact SnowRunner's servers for any online service, and it isn't a mod.io issue. Check that your PC or console is connected to the internet and is not being blocked by a firewall. Also, check to see if you find other online features, such as multiplayer, not working - if this is the case, please submit a request to our support team.
Q: I am using the Epic Games Store version, and the mod menu says it is 'offline'.
A: If you are using the PC version of the game, then one thing to try is to force Snowrunner to reauthenticate:
- Close SnowRunner.
- Browse to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\Mods\.modio\.
- Delete the authentication.json file.
- Restart SnowRunner.
- Log back into the mod menu.
