Hello Insurgency: Sandstorm players! Below is a list of frequently asked questions. If your issue is not addressed here, please get in touch with our support team by creating an issue ticket, and we will look into it for you as soon as we can!

Q: What is included in the Gen 9 version?
A: The Gen 9 version includes the following features:

  • Native 4K Resolution & 60 FPS (1080p on Xbox Series S).
  • HD Textures.
  • Haptic Feedback and Activities on PS5.

Q: How do I get the Gen 9 version?
A: If you purchased the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of Insurgency: Sandstorm (physical or digital), you are entitled to a free digital upgrade of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series versions as determined by the platform of your original purchase.

  • For Xbox players, through an app update.
  • For PlayStation players, through a free download option in the PS Store.

Q: Will my current account transfer over to the Gen 9 version?
A: Please refer to the list below to find a detailed answer to the abovementioned question:

  • In-Game Content: As long as you play the Gen 9 version with the same console account, your player level, unlocked gear, replays, and stats will all transfer over.
  • Paid Content: As long as you play the Gen 9 version with the same console account, all purchased DLCs will transfer to the Gen 9 version.
  • For PS5: Settings & Presets will not automatically transfer over. You will still have access to all your content; however, you'll need to recreate your Cosmetic Presets/Weapon Loadouts.

Q: Will there be cross-play for consoles?
A: We are actively working on console cross-play (between Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5) and will share more information when possible.

Q: Are there any plans for future content?
A: We are delighted to announce that a new year of content is in the works! More information will be revealed soon.

Q: Will there be modification support for consoles?
A: This is not a feature we are actively working on, and we do not intend to bring mods to consoles at this time.

Q: Where can I find the Server Admin Guide?
A: You can find this manual guide here.

Q: Are there plans to make limited-time game modes permanent?
A: We have no plans to make any of these modes permanent in Insurgency: Sandstorm. We believe this would likely stretch the player base too thin, resulting in empty lobbies and longer wait times.

Q: Is there any difference between the console and PC versions of the game?
A: The console and PC versions of Insurgency: Sandstorm are the same. If you see content for PC that you do not have access to, there is a good chance you are looking at modded content.

Q: Are there any plans to add new regional servers?
A: We have no plans to add to or change our current server configuration.

Q: Are there plans to improve AI behavior?
A: We are continuously working on tweaking our AI to provide players with a better gameplay experience. If you experience issues regarding our AI's behavior, please send a ticket to our support team describing the behavior.

Q: Is there mouse and keyboard support for consoles?
A: This feature is currently only supported for Xbox players with cross-play enabled. Attempting to use a mouse and keyboard without enabling cross-play within the region selection menu will remove the ability to use a mouse and keyboard.

Q: Is there Xbox & PC Game Pass cross-play?
A: Players accessing the game through the Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass are able to enable crossplay through the matchmaking region selection menu. This allows Xbox Game Pass users to play with PC Game Pass users and vice versa. This feature does not allow players to play with Steam or PlayStation users.

Q: Will the mods work with the PC Game Pass?
A: Players accessing the game through the PC Game Pass cannot add mods to their installation of Insurgency: Sandstorm.

Q: Can you join community servers with the PC Game Pass?
A: Players accessing the game through the PC Game Pass cannot access community servers.

Q: What happens to the purchased DLC after the game leaves Xbox Game Pass?
A: You will retain the rights to any purchased DLC. However, to access it, you would need to buy the game itself. As long as you were signed in to the Xbox network the last time you played, your achievements, game saves, and game progress will all be there.

Q: What happens to the purchased DLC if a player's Xbox Game Pass subscription expires?
A: As with the previous answer, you retain the rights to the DLC, and you would only need to renew your Game Pass subscription or purchase the game to keep enjoying the DLCs you already own

Q: Will players accessing the game via Xbox Game Pass need Xbox Live Gold to access multiplayer features?
A: To access the multiplayer component, you will need either Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or a subscription to Xbox Live Gold (sold separately).

Q: Is the game playable via cloud gaming?
A: Yes, you can play the Xbox Game Pass version of the game through cloud gaming.
